Recycling Your Old VHS Tapes

What to do with the old vhs tapes? Turn them into hard drives.

I came across this thanks to Anna Jane Grossman's site  iamobsolete.net. What a neat thing to do with some of your old vhs tapes. Instead of trashing them after converting to a digital file, Etsy.com will turn them into hard drives, with 320GB ($104) to 640GB ($154) of storage.

I don't know how long it will be before these things are obsolete, considering that flash drive's storage is getting pretty large, but, it looks like a cool gift, or a great way to hide some data. Who would ever go into your old vhs pile  to steal stuff, particularly if your movie collection includes films like the original and very long Star Trek.

I do like the idea of instead of labeling your hard drives with what they contain, just say, "My taxes are on Top Gun"
