President Obama, in his weekly radio / web address came out swinging over a Supreme Court decision easing limits on campaign spending by corporations and labor unions, saying he couldn't "think of anything more devastating to the public interest."

In the 5-4 decision week, the Supreme Court overturned a law that has been in place for over 60 years that said companies and unions are prohibited from using their own money to make campaign ads. In effect a corporation like Bank of America can go after a candidate who, say, might be introducing a bill that puts restrictions on the banking industry.
Sounding like a populist, Obama said, "This ruling opens the floodgates for an unlimited amount of special interest money into our democracy,".... "It gives the special interest lobbyists new leverage to spend millions on advertising to persuade elected officials to vote their way -- or to punish those who don't." ... "I can't think of anything more devastating to the public interest,"
